  Log Accent Homes

Stringham Residence
This is a framed, log post and beam hybrid on a massive scale. With a ridge length of one hundred and thirty-two feet all supported by ten thousand pound trusses and thirty inch Douglas Fir posts. This project was a true test for any log builders skill and for us these skills have been a life time in the making.

Our goal for the asthetics of these trusses was to build them in a manner that would fool the eye. Look and see if you can tell which log travels through the center of the truss and which one doesn't.

This front truss was over 10,000 lbs. and put a forty ton crane to the test when we were setting it.

Strigham during construction
Setting these trusses was not a job for the faint of heart. I personally was hanging in the man basket on the second winch at the same time as the trusses in order to level and brace them into place. This may seem unsafe, but all segments of the project were approached very methodically with safety being our number one goal.

Here we built a log porch system to give the home a rustic appeal. The log joists also give it a more finished look than standard lumber.

Interior of five sided bay. All window sills are 4x12 fir. Log posts are 16 inch average spruce and are 16 feet tall. We used flare butt posts and ran them all the way to the ground making them look like they could have grown there.
